My aunts husband does every year arrange a halloween party where all families in our small neighbourhood is invited. It is usually filled with interesting foods, snacks, music and a haunted tractor ride in the forest! Even though I'm the only one my age (as the others are either 5 years younger or 20 years older than me) I still enjoy dressing up and have a fun time!
I wouldn't argue that I'm a person that easily get stressed, I usually take things as they come and don't spend much time dwelling on things I can't do anything about. However, now when I'm doing my third year in the IB, even I can feel that it is too much at times. With me, not being used to feeling stressed and the symptoms that comes with it I try to distance myself from what is making me stressed and focusing on things that calms me down.
For me to get things done I first have to calm my brain down and I feel that there is no better place to do that for me than in the stable. The riding school I'm riding at is like a second home for me, I've been there at least once a week since I was around 10 years old. That's nearly nine years now. Being surrounded by these magnificent animals and doing the chores that needs to be done to keep them alive and well makes me de-stress. I feel like doing something outside of school that has nothing to do with what I'm currently doing for my future, but only focusing on what's in the moment gives me a better perspective of what's really important.
Lovely day with lovely food and company is what makes a great midsummer. My family and I kept the long lived tradition we have with another family and spent the evening together with them. During the night we ate very traditional Swedish midsummer dishes like herring, boiled potatoes and of course a strawberry cake for dessert. Around midnight we also had a round of "kubb" family vs. family which, as usual, the other family won.. But no sad faces here no no.
All in all it was a very lovely night even though the weather was a bit back and fourth with rain pouring down one second and then wind the rest of the time. It was nice neither the less!!
I think it's really nice to have days like this, when you just get out in the forest and even though everything don't go as planned you still have a great time. It gives you some time to relax from the everyday life and enjoy the nature and the company of your family!
So this Tuesday was my 18th birthday. I don't really know how to feel about that. For a while I've had a bit of a crisis about me not having my life together (like my driving license, bank stuff and washing my clothes?!?). I do however realize now that not so much have changed. Yes I do have to fix my driving lessons and learn to wash my clothes, but I did actually go to the bank to day (by myself!!) to get my new bank card. Adult points to me!
I and my 80 year old friends celebrated this very exciting day by going to a cute little café in the old town. The interior was absolutely adorable and reminded me lots about really old Swedish houses. We spent around two hours there chatting away about everything. I had a really nice time but I had to leave to have dinner with my parent around half six which also was very lovely. It was all in all a very nice 18th birthday!
